The iFixit Jimmy is a thin, flexible metal blade built for slicing through adhesive and prying open glued-shut devices without wrecking the case. Where a plastic spudger flexes and gives up, the Jimmy gets in.
The blade is thin enough to slide into the seam of a phone or tablet, stiff enough to work the adhesive loose, and flexible enough not to snap under load. The moulded handle gives you real control so you can feel what the blade is doing rather than forcing it blind.
What it's good for
- Separating glued screens and back panels on phones and tablets
- Opening laptop and set-top box housings
- Popping clipped plastic enclosures - NTDs, routers, modems, wall boxes
- Lifting adhesive-mounted components and cable covers
- Scraping old adhesive off before reassembly
